From here to the end of the season, Chicago gets to prove they’ve actually become a good team. They’ve got Green Bay twice, plus Detroit at home on the road in San Francisco. Lose 1 of those and they’re probably fighting for a Wild Card berth. Lose 2 and they’re probably out of the playoffs. The one game they can probably afford to lose the most is probably Cleveland at home. That’s good, since it’s right between the 2 Green Bay games, and I’m starting to suspect Myles Garrett is actually a cyborg.
BTW if any Steelers fans are looking for something to cheer for, Antwan Randle El is doing a fantastic job coaching the wide receivers for the Bears.

After living in metro-Detroit and now in Plano, TX, I learned to become a fan of watching football and not getting too exorcised over the result. The Lions were always underachieving and so I learned to just watch and occasionally be pleasantly surprised. Ditto the U of M Wolverines. When the Lions & Cowboys don't play each other, I can root for either and watch a game and not get bent about it.
All that being said, any team will give you an indicator of success by how many points they allow.
What's killing the NFL is all these calls the refs are making to or getting reversed by upper management. It's just like "I gotta go ask my dad" or, "Mom said NO!"

A non-losing season and playoff berth is back on the table for the Steelers. An ugly nail-biter, but a win's a win against the Ratbirds.
I'm actually going to have a non-grumpy Monday for what seems like in forever. A win is a win indeed.
MY Stillers managed pulled out a win over the Ravens, but in the process gave up another 200 yards rushing at the hands of the Birds. The O is so chaotic there is no hope for a championship. That said, this Yugo of a team only needs two wins to land a spot in the playoffs, and will get steamrolled right out of there.
As much as I haven’t been impressed with Jordan Love in the past, his blitz pickups were the difference in yesterday’s game. That’s not easy against a Dennis Allen defense, and he nailed it over and over.

Good to get the Dub yesterday. Nailbiter which I expect again in 2 weeks. Bears Oline really man-handled our D front. I had my doubts about C Williams being the right draft QB choice for Chicago, but he's proven he can complete and has improved every year and IMO improved faster than J Love. I view J Love as serviceable and above-average, but to say he becomes the 3rd-in-a-row HOF GB starter is a huge stretch for me. But I did learn today that on the crossing pattern TD to Watson that he checked out of a run play seeing man coverage on the speedy Watson, and then also hand signaled to change Watson's route, so that impresses me. Tough skiing next week @Denver then @Chicago.
The Ravens really looked like they were trying to lose at times, and it almost wasn’t enough.
I’ve been a Steeler fan since 1963. This is the worst Steeler team they’ve fielded since 1968. The 1970 edition gets a pass as Noll was in the middle of clearing out all but 5 players of the 68 team that didn’t belong in the NFL.
I believe that is what as known as “False Bravado” covering a collapse of what made the Steelers one of the teams that have won the most games for 50 years.

Consistency is usually a good thing.
The Seahawks were mediocre in the first half on offense, but got their act together in the second half. The defense never needed to get its act together. This year's edition of the Seahawks is going to ride the defense a long way if they keep up like this. Something about defense wins championships...
Of course, the Rams chew concrete and spit sidewalk on defense as well, so there's that little obstacle to overcome.
The Browns just suck. That's also consistency.
Until they find a QB and coach this is likely to be the new normal. I wasn’t born until 1970, and the first football game I ever sat down and watched was Super Bowl 13, so you can imagine how strange it is seeing the Steelers actually become a bad team for the first time in my life.
