...and for all the Reggie Bush bashers, he's not lighting up the field as an RB, but he's the leading reciever among all NFL RB's and has shown he can play in the NFL. I'm not unhappy with him as a Saints fan.

He has the talent to be adequate to good, but he still thinks he is at Southern Cal and he can run backwards and make something out of nothing. Payton needs to tell the Bust, "This is the NFL son, we aren't playing Washington University. The linebackers in the NFL are faster than the damn tackles you faced in the Pac10. You will lose yardage 95 times out of a hundred when you don't hit the hole as hard as you can and take what the defense gives you."

I think other teams will be gunning for him, but I think it'll take a year to figure out how to get him. I think at most he'll rush for 700 yards (probably more like 600) but he'll be used to stretch the play out to the flat and from sideline to sideline...

I think my prediction has more or less come to pass... he has nearly 1000 yds from scrimmage after 11 games...4 TDs (okay, I was a little off on that)... but he might end up with about 600 yards rushing and it will take him until next season to figure out how to run in the pro game.

I'll admit that going by his hype, people thought he would have 16, 200 yd games and there is no way he could follow that up. That is only why I consider him a bust at the moment. He can be good if he can balance his raw ability with a healthy dose of football intelligence.

Good predictions on both our parts. Course, I never saw him working more as a blocking tight end that got his yardage from play breakdowns.

But yeah, I agree with you that the hype on Bush was out of control... his talents dictated more of a jack of all trades role... and he'll probably have to get stronger before he can pound it in-between the tackles on a regular basis.

Calling Bush a bust is plain stupid. The kid is producing in his first year, and he's on the field as opposed to the bench.

If you've been watching football for more than 3 years, like some of his critics ;) , you'll know what real busts are.

Andre Ware, Curtis Enis, KiJana Carter, Tony Mandarich, Heath Shuler, Lawrence Phillips, etc. Those guys are true busts, and they all had tons of hype prior to them being drafted. These guys were supposedly immediate impact players, but they didn't help their team and wound up out of the NFL in a couple of years.

Bush may not be a world beater now, but like many players, he has to get adjusted to holes in the NFL which are smaller and close up faster, get adjusted to the speed of the NFL which affects the type of cuts he can make.

Bush isn't a bust because he is actually seeing the field and helping his team. 2ce is still a good RB, therefore Bush doesn't need to come in and be an every down back. He can develop and learn, while contributing. Right now, he's approaching 800 yards from scrimmage with 5 games left. Let's keep in mind that this kid barely has over 150 touches for the season. He's helped NO in the kick return game. And he's doing all this with limited play. It's better than most rookies who are every down players.

The Aints have other weapons like Colston, Brees, McAllister and Horn that they don't need to rely on Bush and toss him into the fire and make him carry the team on his shoulders. The kid looks good on the field for a rookie, and if you can't see the potential, you need to watch more of the game instead of reading stats.

I was thinking Kijana Carter when I was reading that. It's all in good fun Jivey. I figure I'll talk smack now and clean the egg off my face later, if I have to. If I turn out to be correct in a couple of years, then I got the first I-told-you-so in. :D
