NFL Week #17

Well, keep in mind that so far, no NFC South team has lost to another NFC South opponent at home, and the game is in New Orleans.

Panthers 24
Saints 31

We end with a winning record, the Bucs lose their last game, Panthers still win the NFC South (which is fine with me, they're a good team, and a good bunch of guys).

I think I'd be ok with that outcome. If the Panthers had won last night we'd be set! We could get homefield advantage (which we really need) and actually get somewhere... Oh well, at least we're in the playoffs :hyper:

Yeah, I won't be heartbroken if the Saints don't win, but at least put up something of a fight. 8-8 is a letdown with the amount of potential on the offensive side of my team, but not a complete surprise with the defense, not to mention the injuries we dealt with all season (especially on the defense).

You guys would have gotten homefield advantage for the whole playoffs with a win last night, now you can't really change your position, you're golden unless you have to play the Giants again, they have homefield for the playoffs.

Cows pull it together one more time and beat the hell out of Donovan.

Romo and his merry band of idiots play like crap all day, but still manage to make 4 to 5 plays.

Cows win 21-13.

No stress football weekend for Week #17 :D

The Superbowl Champion New York Football Giants go to Minnesota .... game means nothing to the Giants but there are some implications for the Vikes & others. I'd imagine that Brandon Jacobs might sit this one out, or at least not be in the usual battering ram position all game, he needs to heal up just a bit more. Other than that I expect to see the Champs in full force and getting a good head of steam going into the playoffs. It'll be nice to end the regular season on a win, NYG 20, MIN 13

The Steelers will be up for this one just to smack their over-the-river rivals a few more times. Another game that would be great as a lead in to a strong post-season schedule. Pittsburgh in a no-contest win, PIT 24, CLE 9

I would love to see the Dolphins beat up the Jets in the Meadowlands, that would be a fitting close to a typical Jets season ... they always appear to be headed for greatness and then completely f-up their season, and this year has been no different. Hopefully Farve(Favre??) has already packed his bags and set fire to any potential 2nd year contract .... please, just retire and shut up .... MIA 31, J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets 0 (a shut out would be especially sweet :smug:)

Look I like the Panthers too, but there are a few things to consider going into week 17 with this game, and I'm not saying I'm going to be right, but considering these facts is probably a good idea:

1) No NFC South team has lost to another NFC South team at home. The NFC South as a division has exactly three losses at home this season.

2) The Saints still are putting the most dangerous offense in the entire NFL on the field right now. They can, when they're operating at full tilt, score from anywhere on the field, at any time, against any opponent. The only downfall of the team is that our defense plain stinks - and no one wins championships without defense, at least an AVERAGE one, which the Saints do not have. They have an INCONSISTENT defense, which is highly frustrating, but they do show up, and if they do (and that's a big "IF") show up Sunday, this game will be closer than anyone thinks.

3) The Panthers cannot improve their situation with a win. The Saints however can salvage a winning season.

4) Peyton is going to turn Brees loose on Sunday. Drew is 401 yards shy of breaking the all-time yardage record, and if it's possible for him to do it, he will be given that chance. Drew putting up a lot of yards from the start could be a real issue for the Panther's defense, or it could be a problem for the Saints defense that causes him to break the record. Either way, count on the ball being in the air a LOT on Sunday, and with all of the Saints receivers of note (less Reggie Bush) being at 100%, unlike the first meeting, there will be some serious matchup issues for the Panthers D.

Betcha it's a Saints win.

Indy plays the Titans this week.

It could be a good indication of if the Colts have what it takes to make it to the SB. Yeah, I know the game offically means nothing for both teams but this is an AFC South division game. The Titans have some demons to kill when it comes to playing the Colts. Hopefully it is a good game and the Colts come out on top.
