No, they don't disguise blitzes, run line stunts, or any of that. Never.



Try again, what I was pointing out was that the Saints ran a vanilla D on Sunday and still managed to hold the opponent to 13 points (keep in mind that the additional 14 points on the board were because of a fumble return for a TD and poor coverage on a kickoff, NOT because the Saints D gave anything up).



When they come up against a genuine NFL offense, they will have calls that the opponent cannot have seen yet, and won't be prepared for. That's the "trick bag", yo-yo. Yeah, the Steelers never disguise their defensive calls...



I should know I need to explain this stuff in small words, you still think yellow is gold.

seriously i think the cheifs only think there are 3 quarters in a game. I get so tired of hearing how they were so close, when they just gave it away in the 4th. Chiefs fans, and their false hope. Every year the same. 3 months of "this is the year", followed by a season of " we were so close", finished with "next year". Rinse. Repeat.

Which is the beauty in just how awesome the Steelers play defense. There are no tricks, no surprises on game day, yet it still works. We don't save anything for "real offenses", everyone gets the same brutal treatment.

But hey, you guys keep on playing that gimmick defense down there in the Bayou. Save your defensive tricks for "real offenses". When you win a playoff game that really matters with it, let the rest of us know.

They also know that Gregg Williams does similar things with his defense, so it won't be a "surprise" that it happens, just will be a surprise that they aren't expecting what does happen when it does. Sorta like LeBeau, who I will just go right ahead and say is the BEST EVER DC.

I've been living on Pepto Bismol and Anti-depressants for the last couple of days.

The news of Urlacher being out for the season just hurts. He was poised for a comeback season, and he looked good in camp. Now it's going to be a test for the LB depth.

Cutler does a good job of extending plays, but the WRs just look lost out there. They give up on their routes way too easily. Maybe it's from playing with noodle arm Orton, but they have to get their act back together.

The positive is that the pass rush looks good, so they may help us against PIT. But Omiyale needs to ride the pine. Our LG couldn't help us in the running game. The secondary is banged up, Vasher lost a step, our best defender is out for the season, and the young WRs look lost out there. And until those things are fixed, it's going to be hard to be competitive.

I still think the Bears can have a good season, but not to the high expectations of preseason. I think they can still be competitive against the defending champs, but it would be a tough upset to pull off considering their D vs our inexperience at O. But as they say, on any given Sunday.............

I've already had my fill for the season of the ridiculous omnipotent and almighty Saints and "America's Team" crap around here. Hopefully some of your wisdom (did I really just type that???) rubs off on the simply unrealistic NFL dreamers of TB!

Honestly Jivey, it didn't look like Cutler and his receivers were on the same page. I mean 4 INT's? No worries, though, Judas Queen will probably pass that up in 3-4 games.

And I don't say that as a Packer fan because I think they have them high, but the disparity between say New England and Buffalo in a one point game, and the disparity between TN and the Steelers after a 3 point game? I thought you ranked them based on week one performance. not week one performance, plus all of last year's performance. I'll even give one to Gard that NO is probably way too low.

Pack should win this one against the Bengals at Lambeau, but blowouts aren't probably going to be part of their season once again. Last night's Bears game was looking like a repeat of last year, but the D stepped up and A-Rodg won it in the last minutes.

I've already had my fill for the season of the ridiculous omnipotent and almighty Saints and "America's Team" crap around here. Hopefully some of your wisdom (did I really just type that???) rubs off on the simply unrealistic NFL dreamers of TB!

In all honesty, I'm two headed on that. There's the head that wears the Bears helmet that thinks my team is the best and ready to pull off a 16-0 (15-1 now) season. Then there's the head that just loves the game of football and sees the entire league. At least based on week one, the Bears still have gaps that will take a few weeks to address, namely the timing with WRs.

Bears had a good pass rush that made a GB offense that looked unstoppable in the preseason appear out of sync for most of the game. Considering 3 INTs at the time, to have a lead at all is impressive. We lost the game on 2 plays, the stupid direct snap on 4th and 11 on their own 30, and when Vasher got burned on the play action. Considering Urlacher was out for the entire 2nd half, I think we held up well and could have still won the game.

I still think the Bears can pull out a win against PIT. PIT's O-line still looks shaky and our pass rush looks pretty good without using the blitz. Run D looks pretty solid as well. But not having Urlacher will really hurt because the MLB is so key in pass coverage in our scheme. You can't replace a tall LB with the ability to run with WRs easily. PIT has a great run D which will limit us, but if the passing game is out of sync, we won't be able to take advantage of the opportunities out there like TEN did to keep it close. If the offense can somehow get into sync enough to keep it close, and the D can keep Ben from extending plays, we can pull this off.

Hey man, you said it before... On any given Sunday. I never rule anyone out, and I never think anyone (even the Steelers) are a simple shoe-in. Look no further than Superbowl XLII to be reminded of that!

Regarding this Sunday's game, I still think Cutler is an overhyped crybaby who will ultimately be a thorn in da Bear's side. Also, it seems that he and his receiving corps have been reading different playbooks. Combine that wth Pittsburgh's vicious D and that side of the ball will be tough. The Bears D is where I'm a little more worried, despite Urlacher's absence. I think they will do a good job of addressing the suspect O line and Ben, who has had the ball velcroed to his throwing hand recently.

In fact, I reckon TARD thinks that on the basis of the aints' performance last week, Dallas, San Francisco, and Pittsburgh should give there 16 combined trophies over to Moleman and ex-Mr. Kardashian.

TARD is the hysterical one who believes that the aints performance against the mighty Lions is an indication that the Steelers do not rightfully own 6 Lombardi trophies. In fact, I reckon TARD thinks that on the basis of the aints' performance last week, Dallas, San Francisco, and Pittsburgh should give there 16 combined trophies over to Moleman and ex-Mr. Kardashian.
