NFL Week 20

Inflated stats was a direct effect of running against the Colts regular-season defense. Ron Dayne, Travis Henry, hell just about every RB's stats were padded with a Colts game on their schedule.

Based on that reasoning, Manning's record-breaking stats are inflated since he plays Houston twice a year.;)

1000+ yards off the bench was a record for a rookie. Try again.

OK. There really isn't a "starting" RB in Indy. Sure, one guy does start, but it's not like a LT2, Larry Johnson, or Willie Parker starter. Addai and Rhodes both play quite a bit. So this coming off the bench comment is over rated.

1000 yards rushing was a big deal when the NFL played 12 games a year. I don't think 1000 yards rushing is the benchmark for a really good season anymore. I'd push that up to 1300 or even 1400.

And like I said, rookies that run for over 1000 yards happen every year. When you watch football for more than 3 years, you pick up on things like that. ;)
My point was that everyone was talking about Bush (6 rushing TD, 565 yds) and everyone else but Addai (7 Rushing TD's) received little to no recognition for his performance this season. Not one other rookie RB reached 1000+ yds this season. I think that is something considering he did split touches with Rhodes.

You make it seem like Addai got only 5-10 touches a game. For a guy who didn't start, he seemed to average about 15-20 touches a game. There's many "starting RBs" that average that many touches a game. And you know as well as I do, that Addai got more touches than Rhodes for the bulk of the season.
Once again, yea, he got more touches. However, he didn't get all of them did he? BTW, he averaged just under 15 touches a game. Rhodes averaged just under 12. Both had a per attempt average better than Bush.

On the other hand, Maurice Jones Drew accomplished what he accomplished while getting only about 5-10 touches a game, unless Fragile Freddy was hurt. Pretty amazing.
Yep, MJD's stats are padded by two games against the Colts' run D. Hmm, lets see. The Jags rushed for 191 in Week 3 and in Week 14 had 375 yds. Yea, MJD really was all that. If it wasn't for the Colts he would have ended up with 600-650 yds, maybe. He didn't need that many touches to get the yds because once again, he got most of them from the Colts. BTW, how much did MJD split his?

I can agree to that.

It isn't anything if your the RB getting 95+% of the touches. Addai didn't and that's why his performance was noteworthy IMO.

The thing is that MJD had almost 1400 yards from scrimmage, while barely having more than 200 touches for the season. Against Indy, he had games of 135 and 181 yards from scrimmage.Take those two games away and he still has over 1000 yards from scrimmage. Also, MJD played primarily on 3rd downs unless Taylor was hurt. Add in the fact that he hardly played in the first two games, and his stats are pretty impressive.

I'm not taking away from Addai in that he produced in his rookie season, but if you look at the tape, MJD was just an amazing player to watch. The kid was a big play waiting to happen, and to add to the feel good story, he pretty much came out of nowhere. Addai played a solid year, but he was a first round pick coming into one of the best NFL offenses.

Yeah just a little school called UCLA. Mike knows how much I hate PAC10 ball and I knew about him.

If he wasn't a mighty-mite (4'2") he'd have been a 1st round lock.

At the beginning of training camp, he was slotted to play behind Greg Jones until he got hurt for the season. Greg Jones was a pretty good back. He then surpassed Toefield on the depth chart. When he was drafted, he wasn't expected to be an immediate impact player like he was this year. He was drafted primarily to be on special teams, where a 5' 7" frame is helpful.

And two games against the 30th or so rated run D (Titans). Look at his numbers against Houston, that fairly run-of-the-mill run defense turned him into a very average runner. I remember watching those games and thinking, "How did Shorty burn us so bad."

I'm not counting him out, but realize by virtue of running against the Colts and Titans "soft-as-white-cotton-panties" regular season run D he got a good little bit of help. He could turn out to be the best back in the his class, but I highly doubt that. Maybe akin to Warrick Dunn, but I still think it's amazing that someone that small can play effectively in the NFL.
