I think a lot of the rep that Shockey got was being in NY with the media whores up there. Down in NOLA things are a bit less irritating for the players. Not to mention that Payton will just sit his butt if he gets out of line. Shockey is not "the man" on this team, there are two other TE's that can get the job done, and with the rest of the receiving corps the Saints have on the field it won't hurt them to let Jeremy sit on the bench and stew.

I think the guy wants to play, he knows the lay of the land in NOLA, so he'll behave himself.

Part of me hopes your right, 'cause I like NO and think he's a great asset to have. The other part of me wants to see him explode, because I loathe him as a person (i.e. troublemaker).

I think at least some of his "troublemaker" rap is media based, those NY reporters can be pretty abrasive, and hes got a short fuse, so they'd find his buttons and push them. He has been remarkably quiet and friendly in New Orleans so far, mainly because no one is grilling him every five seconds, IMO.

Yeah, he's a hot-head, but I don't really buy the "troublemaker" tag, never have. He's just into the game, and wants to contribute, and when he doesn't he gets frustrated.

The beauty of pairing him with Brees is that he KNOWS that if he's the open guy, the ball will find him, unless someone else is open and has the chance to do more damage. He gets to winning, he won't make anything but touchdowns, no trouble.

Same can also be said for T.O.!!!! I'm loving that he's a model player in Dallas.... 'Cause I *hate* Philadelphia!!! :D:D:D

I dunno about "model player", he is definitely still "TO"...just toned down a bit.

I think we're about to see some fireworks from him soon:

Lost his starting QB for at least a few weeks

Just got a teammate that will be drawing throws away from him

...something will happen soon, and it will be typically annoying yet entertaining to watch, because he plays in Dallas and _I_ *hate* DallASS.

I dunno, he was a douche at UM--but of course, that program was set up to tolerate toolbags like him as long as they could play, so he didn't get much negative publicity. We'll see what happens.

Regarding TO, I'm surprised he hasn't blown up yet. But it seems like a matter of time with a lax disciplinarian like Phillips.

Again, in NO, he is only one of a large pool of very capable and talented receivers, some of whom are also TE's. He wants to play on a team that gives him a chance at winning. The coach will not tolerate any BS from him, he knows it, so he's keeping his nose clean (so far). The publicity in NYC isn't just "negative", it's "AGGRESSIVELY negative", and even I might bow up at them from time to time. It seems that columnists in that market thrive on getting as much negative crap to print as they can find. NO doesn't have that kind of (stupid, assinine, jerkoff, pinheaded, you pick an adjective) press, they won't "coddle" him if he heads south, but they won't antagonize him either. He won't spout off in public.

If he does, he can plainly see the team can do pretty much just fine with him sitting down, and I think Sean has made that clear.

TO will implode eventually, it's in his DNA....

Oh, you gotta be kidding me! T.O.'s arms must be sore from throwing every QB he's played with prior to Romo under the bus! How many world-class sideline shouting matches did he start in SF and Philly? And hiring that piece of pond scum Drew Rosenhaus as his agent? I have to take a shower just from typing his name...

Man, when Shockey was playing at the U, the program produced a lot more NFL first and second round draft picks than the Gators! Even when we had Larry aka the horrible coach-we still produced more NFL first and second round draft picks that have produced more than Gators football alumni. Point is if you measure all the talent and successful players on the U's teams and Uf's teams, guess who wins? yup THE U!

I will say this though-your program has turned the Gators into one most competetive programs in the country. The SEC is more powerful than the Big 10 now IMHO...that's because of Alabama, Florida, Georgia...some other programs that don't come to mind and the fact that Michigan and Ohio State's programs are getting worse and worse...Michigan with Rodriguez will be good but it will continue to take time
