NFL Week #6

I wish everyone could have seen the Texans - Colts game. I was afraid up until the last couple of minutes that the Texans would win, but I needn't have worried. Sage Rosenfels took it upon himself to lose in grand style!

0-16 could happen!!! You've gotta believe!!!!

The Superbowl Champion New York Football Giants looked incredible against the Seahawks (amazing to me to see how many people picked the 'Hawks to win the game outright :eek:). They will be taking that same focus into Cleveland against the 1-3 Browns, and although I don't expect to see another monster blow-out, the Giants should win this one without too much stress on the Monday night stage. The NY media continuing Favre(Farve?)-fest rolls on again this week, especially after slapping the snot out of Arizona in the "no defense needed" shootout two weeks ago. Hey, anyone can score 56 points if the opposition defense doesn't make any effort ..... At any rate, the Jets could have some issues with Cincinnatti this week, gotta figure the Bengals are getting very p*ssed off losing these hard fought games. I can see Cincinnatti taking it out on Favre(Farve?) and I'd expect to see him on his back, a lot. CIN 35, NYJ 24

The Steelers really need this bye week to rest up a bit after a much needed win against the Jags .... Pittsburgh is, IMO, one of the least respected 4-1 teams in the league, probably due to Ben getting b*tch slapped so much (but he had some nice evasive moves against the Jags in spite of the pressure). He deserves a week off .... :cool:

Not just the sacks, but Roethlisberger is under constant pressure every game .... credit goes to him that the Steelers keep on winning despite the O-lines lousy attemps at protection. Imagine how frightening they would be if the O-line was even half-way decent :eek:

Roethlisberger is an excellent quarterback .... :cool:

HC Mike Tomlin shed some light on that very subject in the post-game press conference last night. He said "Sometimes he (Ben) holds the ball too long, and the offensive line catches a bad rap for it. But you take the good with the bad because he can step up and deliver the way he delivered tonight. He's very good at what he does, and the guys have a great deal of belief in him. He delivers time and time again."

I was reading that quote this morning .... while there is some truth to it, I really think that Tomlin was just trying to show some love to the much maligned O-line. Ben is not the only guy in the NFL to hang onto the ball a bit. Manning holds it a lot, too, but the Giants line still gives him protection and he barely gets tapped compared to Ben. Plus, some of the deeper patterns the Steelers run take forever to develop ....

The offensive line is, obviously, the Steelers true weak point. Lucky for Pittsburgh that Roethlisberger has the chops he does ... that, plus the guy can really take a beating better than almost anyone else in the league. When you can say that the O-line played well after the QB is sacked 3 times (and generally pressured or hit on the rest of the plays), that isn't the sign of good stuff to come from the offense .... :hmm:

49er's 21

Although there were some rough spots in that game, the defence came thru, the offensive line dominated the 49er's defence for most of the game, and Matt Casell looked like he matured somewhat during the game. Don't like LaMont Jordan going down but hopefully he'll be ready for Sunday. Still a long ways to go. The Pts are so fortunate to have Kevin Faulk on that team. The guy is incredible. Best screen man in the league, IMHO. )-(
