New headstock day on my Peavey Axcelerator. I came close to selling this but after recording a track, I decided to keep it. Love the bass, headstock not so much, so I reshaped it. I think it fits the streamlined shape of the body more than the original clunky design. Now I love the whole thing. A CAR matching headstock would be cool, maybe one day and I'd probably refine the curve more where the logo is now.

that's pretty good! I'm a headstock guy and love the early USA style, but the Asian reshape is sucky, I keep wanting to copy the oldie but they rounded it too much to nail the lower points...
always had an itch for the Axcelerator after missing out on a cheap beauty, what did you not like in the sound? what led you to change your mind? can it do a convincing P bass tone? thx

Thanks, I highly recommend making your own shape even if you can't match the oldie. I was going to sell it because I have a boutique fretless 5 and didn't think I needed the Axcelerator. However, after doing a recording, the Axcelerator tone worked alot better (my other fretless does a better acoustic fretless tone) for the song so I decided to keep it as another tool in the shed. The tone I used was all bridge pickup with bass wide open and treble around 75%. I think the neck does a decent P-Bass simulation and both pickups a nice PJ sound but with the preamp I think it really has its own flavor.

Hmmmm....

I have an AXCL as well, but my HS is not as rounded as yours.
Mined has the same HS as my T40.

As for sounding like a P, I actually haven't played it much,
I'm ashamed to admit, because I'm a passive kindda guy.

But the last time I played it, it reminded me more of a J than a P,
if memory serves me right.

What kind of strings are you using?
I have SS lo riders I think, on mine.......057912

I had that headstock on a Fury I just sold which is interesting because this Axcelerator has alot more tilt back than the Fury did.

This one has Fender flats on it. I find the neck pickup to be alot thicker than a single coil jazz.
