NHL 2013 post season thread!

Wow, what an awesome game and series for two Original Six teams.

The post game handshake has to be one of the coolest traditions in sports. Classy of the Boston fans to hang around and cheer for Chicago.

I really thought it would go 7 games.

Me too, but Chicago withstood a furious 1st period by the B's and never gave up in the 3rd. I was also impressed with how Crawford kept his composure after some shaky work in game 4. All I can do is tip my cap - the Hawks are a deserving champion.

As long as the B's sign Tuukka to a new deal, they'll be back strong again next year and we can talk hockey on TalkBass.

Great Series and unlike last year we had the two best teams in the conferences facing off. And no doubt the Blackhawks were the best team in the league for the entire season. And they have a great core, if they don't get stupid in the off season they could be back.

To the East, next year will be fun. Remember the team that took Chicago to seven games is headed your way, a year older and wiser. :D

To me the teams to watch in the off season are Pittsburg, because they have had some disappointing playoff runs. Philly, because they are always making changes or trying too. I think they made the mistake a couple of years ago of being too confident in their talent, trading Richards could haunt them for a while. Anaheim because they can't seem to put together a post season, and Detroit. We have lots of good young pieces and might be just a couple of additions away from making a real run. Remember the Detroit team that lost too Chicago was without arguably it's best defenseman for the entire series.

OK, so when does the offseason thread start?

Oh, congrats to the Hawks!

And can someone tell me how to unburn Don Cherry's image from my eyes? UGH! Why couldn't the NBC station carry the game in Detroit? Oh, that's right, FIREWORKS were more important in Hockeytown!!!

I think most fans around here are looking forward to seeing the Wings more often. It makes the task of returning to the Stanley Cup Playoffs more difficult, but it will make for a more interesting regular season.

I don't know if Toronto is contemplating any moves and I know that Montreal fans don't want to hear this; but the Leafs are for real and will be even better next year even if they do nothing.

Rumors are flying in Toronto. Now that the playoffs are out the way, the real fun begins. Maybe we should kick off the NLH offseason thread now.

One rumor I read was the Wild were looking at Fleury, and they just signed Backstrom yesterday.

Pens repeated their stance that fleury is their man, and that they don't like the goalie market this year.

Doesn't mean that it couldn't be smoke and mirrors though.
