NHL 2013 regular season thread!

Exciting 1-0 win by the B's over the Leafs. The score should have been 2-1 but a Leaf goal that would have tied it in the first was disallowed when Rask went down and drew a goaltenders interference call. I hope I don't see any of Rask taking a dive - it was embarrassing. However, the refs made the same call that disallowed a B's goal. I couldn't be upset because of the earlier call but I'd rather the refs just get the calls right.

Hope they do! Lots of good young talent and fun to watch. But Johnson will always be > DiPietro!

You just had to go there didn't you? :p
Ricky likes to lead with his face, so what? Or he thought Johnson was Al Montoya. With that concussion history, who knows. :)

On a semi-related note, Michael Haley > Craig Adams.
But now that Haleys in the rag$ system, he's dead to me.

I know it's really early, but it has been fun so far.

Didn't see the Bs goal that was disallowed, but the Leafs goal that was disallowed was so lame. I don't know if that's a bad call or a bad rule, but if that's how the rules are they need to change. Player in front of the net backs into the goalie who is out of his crease and its a disallowed goal? Is the player supposed to have eyes in the back of his head? Should be the goalie's responsibility to not run into someone when he comes that far out.

The B's goal that was disallowed was more that the goalie was having trouble getting back up because he had stuck his leg out a foot or two beyond the post and Marchand went flying over them (injuring Marchand in the process). Goalie was deemed helpless so goal didn't count. Not exactly the same situation as the Leaf's disallowed goal which I agree was more a case of Rask selling incidental contact when he was out of the crease, but still lame in its own way. Both goals should have counted, IMHO.

It may be that it is a hard rule to call correctly, and one, that the goalies may start to exploit. The last thing that anyone wants to see is flopping goalies - this need to be taken care of sooner rather than latter.

The water is frozen? That never stopped those crazy Canadiens.:D

That said, I hope the Canadians didn't watch the B's - Leafs game and caught Rask's back 2 1/2 with a twist (which got a 9.5 from the crusty Bulgarian judge!). All we need is their goalie to get in on the act, too.

Haha, I can usually throw bias aside when it comes to complaining about horrible ref decisions, like when I thought Ed Reed should not be suspended for his hit in the Steelers game!

I just hate to see crap like what is happening this year. They should at least review the play in a situation like that. I'm not saying they should start using replays to verify power plays, but when you're going to kick a guy out of the game for a clean hit, you could at least look at the replay to verify!

Thanks, it was informed by a lifetime of observing my Dad and Uncles and hearing the stories that they (and my Pepere and Memere) told growing up in Quebec - it is nothing short of a miracle that they made it out of their teens, nevermind that they are all in their 70's and 80's and going strong. :D
