I'm hoping we can get someone of the caliber of Ryan Miller. There's so many good up and coming goal tenders in the farm systems right now but it would be nice to get Ryan Miller back in his home state.

I don't think Buffalo will let Miller go. What about the Howard kid in the minors for Detroit?

I hope I don't offend any Red Wings fans out there, but the wings are kind of due for some bad years...:hiding::hiding::hiding:

Now wait a minute-- we had years so bad they had a name: The Darkness with Harkness! People wore bags to games, you went to watch other teams play, Canadian and American fans drinking and laughing together... Biblical stuff.

I recently read an article that really nailed the ref problem in the NHL. The NHL is the only pro league that changes the rules for the playoffs! Imagine if baseball moved the strike zone from the belt back to the letters without saying anything to the players? Imagine if the NFL stopped calling pass interference or holding (just let the boys play)? Its ridiculous and has been going on for many, many years. No one knows what the rules are from game to game. And its not like they can't be consistent. How many times do they let a high stick to the head go (not counting the ones they miss because action is too fast)? If they see a high stick, they call it. I'd love to see them do the same with cross checking! No one could touch Holmstrom in front of the goal. Or interference-- let Crosby, Malkin, Zetterberg, Datsuk, etc. skate!! That's what we are paying to see. Not some 4th line scrub holding the top players in the world!

Oops. That turned into a rant. Sorry. Rant over...

I remember Primeau in his later (Flyer) years. He was well liked in Philly...more so than Brind'a'mour. His career was cut short. So...what about Primeau? :)

I forget what year 92 ? but it was bare times for the wings and they picked Primeau instead of Jargr.

Primeau needed a couple of more years of growth to get to NHL standards. He lasted a couuple of years with the wings.

I don't know how popular of an opinion that is among hockey fans in general, but I agree with it 100%

Probably not popular among bandwagon fans. But the knowledgeable hockey crowd has been complaining about that for a while. Bettman is the worst thing that has happened to the NHL. I saw an interview with him recently, where he said (I'm paraphrasing) "We don't give up on our teams. Canada has shown that it can't support another NHL team, while people in Phoenix have shown that they want to keep the team there." Yea, ok. Those measly 300 people rallying don't hold a candle to the 30,000+ that rallied to keep the Jets in Winnipeg.

I'm talking about the Willie Huber years (http://redwingslegends.blogspot.com/2009/01/willie-huber.html)! We got Hall of Fame goalie Rogie Vachon off Montreal after he got hit in the head with pucks too many times-- hence his Detroit name: Periogi Vachon. Anybody remember these #1 draft picks? Serge Lajeunesse (#10 overall), William Lochead (#9 overall), Richard Lapointe (#5 overall), Fred Williams (#4 overall), etc. The list goes on and on and on...

I totally missed every goal since I was at the studio from 5-9. On the way home I called my wife for her to check the score for me. When she turned on the TV and checked it she laughed. I wasn't sure what that meant so I asked her again and she said 4-0. Then I laughed. By the time I got home it was 5-0. I saw the 3rd period but all the fun was over.

So what did I miss?

And early in the second...those Wings PP didn't exactly help the Pens any.

No your exactly right. But at least 3 of those powerplays were because the Pens took stupid penalties, like Kunitz on Darren Helm. If I were coach Dan I would have been so angry. One rule of thumb with the Wings, DON'T GIVE THEM POWERPLAYS!!!!!!! The Pens need to play smart in game 6 to force a game 7.

Well, I guess it was our turn not to show up like it was for Detroit in game four. We got beat up early, and lost it. I don't think Detroit did anything spectacular tonight. I realize they had Datsyuk back. I sure don't give Osgood the star of the game, he didn't do anything all night. Give them all to the Detroit defense.

Now I'm really pissed about the loss, so I'll try to be as nice about this as possible. All you people out there who think the NHL is conspiring to give Crosby a Cup need to shut it. All of you who jumped all over him for the dramatic fall to the ice in game four after the slash to his calf....shut it as well.

Crosby got Zetterberg with the same slash Crosby received in game four. Zetterberg falls, gets up smiling, and Crosby is sent to the sin bin for two minutes. So knock it off with that BS about Crosby being handed a trophy.

I got some more to say, but I am too pissed to go on any longer. I just wanted to show up and make a few comments so no one accused me of being some pussy who only posts when my team wins.

Way to put the hammer down tonight Detroit. Impressive win.
