NHL Playoffs!

Edmonton's offense is never in the freakin' slot, I've noticed. That combined with the very, very quick skating of Carolina in their zone makes it sooo hard to generate offense. Then when Edmonton is in their own zone, the defense is very slow. FRUSTRATING!

I've noticed that too. Actually, I've noticed that defensive scheme with all of the top teams these playoffs. Buffalo did it to perfection, and Edmonton's no slouch at it when they're on their game either. If you can keep all the shots outside then you've got a much better chance to block them and maybe make something with the puck afterwards. To really take advantage of it your team has to have the speed to make the most of your chances. Blocked shot, blocked shot, blocked shot, odd man rush.

Personally I love it. Great end to end hockey, even if it's a bit frustrating when your team can't get a shot through to the goal.

Edit: How 'bout that Markannen? I thought the Oilers were dead in the water without Rolie but Jussi has really stepped up and played awesome. Just don't let him handle the puck, please.

Great game last night, I almost changed the channel when they went into OT and the Oil took that bad penalty. Don't get me wrong it was a trip, it was also a stupid play. I never would've guessed Pasani would put one in shorthanded. :)
They said Game Six is in Edmonton now right?

That was incredible! Pisani went after the pass, and it looked like maybe he missed the puck or just deflected it a little because suddenly the puck seemed to vanish briefly; I remember wondering where the hell is it? Then it dropped in front of his stick. It must've bounced up and hit off his chest or shoulder. I was on my feet at that point. Then he moved in all alone on the goal and flipped the puck over Ward's left arm. I would think that our cats would be used to me jumping and shouting when a hockey game's on TV, but instead they run like hell out of the room.

Yup, game 6 is Friday night at Rexall Place in Edmonton. I sure hope to see Chris Pronger and Ryan Smyth hoisting the Cup around rink at the RBC Center Monday night!
