A friend (and potential bandmate) was hosting an open mic locally last night, and invited me to come down. For simplicity I brought my Hohner B2V - my travel bass, a cheap little headless that I defretted. I plugged in through a DI to the PA. Normally when we play I bring my Zon and a Mesa/MAS rig. I did one song solo bass (which went over quite well) and then he and I played a few tunes together. After the first tune he said "yep, it's in the hands - even on the cheap gear you still sound like you. It ain't just the expensive gear that does it".
