Nice Fender - No Serial? (Or am I dumb?)

“What’s the harm in putting a Fender decal on my Squier, I’ll disclose it if I ever sell it anyway”
1. You sell the bass, admitting it’s a Squier, the next guys sells it as a straight up Fender for more money.
2. It creates confusion when being sold, someone might get burned in a sale- because you wanted people to think you have a Fender for a little while
3. The people you are trying to impress with Fender instead of Squier aren’t really impressed at all anyway, so why bother?

Well, those are indeed the mexican style tuners which also appear on many Squiers. Its either parts or reworked Squier more than likely. I'd check out the pups and if I really liked it and it was under 200 bucks would consider. As far as online goes, I'd want at least a 24 hr inspection to see what the heck it is. My only gripe about certain Squiers are fretwork and truss rods. When those things are out of whack, its a quack.

That is a Squier VM 77 Jazz Bass with a Fender decal, aftermarket pickguard , pickup covers and JB knobs.

I played a Squier VM 77 and was really impressed by it. If I was in the market for a JB I'd consider one, priced accordingly to what it actually is. I'm interested to hear what kind of response you get when you call the guy on it being counterfeit. If he insists it's genuine I'd keep walking on principle.

I’d bet money that’s a reworked Squier neck.

And yeah - I’ll echo the others who said “no number, no sale.” All Fender and Squier necks have serial numbers coming out the factory door. The only reason one’s ever missing is because it’s intentionally been removed. And, as was previously noted, there is no good reason for anyone to do that. But there are plenty of bad ones.

I’d walk away for sure.

No one, because it's not illegal :D
No, didn't you read the earlier post? Of course it's illegal. Oh yeah, and don't tear the tag off your mattress, either. That's punishable by prison.

Sheesh! What a bunch of crap and nonsense! It's not a damn firearm, for crying out loud! I'll never get why so many people just make up stuff.

Anyway, back to this obvious fake Fender. It's a fake.
