Hey bass boys and girls! I played this bass at GC and really liked it, so I impulsively forked over the $$
It's a new Squier Precision 5. it's actually a PJ, with their SQR pickups. I really liked the roasted maple neck (unless that's shoe polish
), it's solid feeling and straight. The controls are volume, pickup pan, passive tone, and then a stacked, active boost-only treble and bass. (I imagine the pickups are active too?). I like that the EQ is somewhat subtle, and not overbearing, so it's useful. The bass has plenty of natural highs, so I haven't been using the treble boost much, but the bass boost adds some nice things. The passive tone is nice too if you want to tamp down the highs. It was set up well at the store, and feels and sounds great. Was $529 brand new. I tend to play 4 strings most of the time, but to have a decent, usable 5 without tying up a lot of money is nice. Squier has put out a lot of good, affordable stuff over the last bunch of years.
