It's New Knob Day. I recently started upgrading my Fender Jazz Aerodyne. Part of the job was upgrading the cheap Chinese 60 cent pots. That's actually the reason for the upgrade. I was at band practice and went to turn one of them up and it was scratchy. The guitar isn't old enough to start doing that so I just went ahead and upgraded the pots to CTS Brass solid shaft pots. I would have prefered to keep the original knobs but the CTS pots weren't split like the old ones and the CTS pots have a larger shaft. I had some Fender Jazz knobs laying around from another project so I put those on there. I didn't really care for the totally blacked out knobs so I spent about a week looking at about 1 million different knobs. I couldn't find anything that I liked so I had Justin Tillinger (JT guitar parts on Reverb.com) make up a set. In keeping with the black and aged ivory binding theme of the Aerodyne, he made me a set that are creme and black. What do you guys (and gals) think?

Someone from Fender should be on here taking notes. Those look awesome on that bass!

Nice look!

question - with your QP set...
What capacitor did the bass have? And did you re-use it?

I have sets in my Jazz V’s (both fretted and Fretless), and I have found that a .047uF cap seems to cut out too many mids beyond 50%. I recently went with a .022 in both basses, and it has allowed them to retain more midrange.

Amazing! I am looking to change the knobs- Pots in my Aerodyne. I've contacted JAT Custom Guitar Parts. Thanks for the recommendation!
Besides the pots sold by Stratosphere what does everyone recommend?
