No more dreads!

If you want long hair, you've got to suffer through the "explosion in a mattress factory" look. I look back at pictures of when my hair was growing out and think "what a mess!". I only saw the progress, not the appearance.

once it gets long enough to ponytail, you're golden. Guys like the op can rock short hair. Me? I look awful with short hair. I'd say you've got to give it 6mos - 1yr to grow.

the girls i attracted were "Drop-Dead-Amazing" according to the normal rating system. :D

I'm getting married in September and don't want a pre-emptive divorce, but I'm seriously considering sticking it out after the wedding and going for it. especially since it'll be winter and that gives me a 2nd good excuse to let my hair grow.

I've got odds that your folks or an older aunt/uncle then said..."So, when is that eyebrow piercing coming out next?"

I'm not judging one bit, just making a parental assumption. Good for you on the big change. I think it's an improvement, and I thought cutting my beard was big for me years ago...nothing like what you did.

Nope. My parents are the most understanding and open-minded people on earth. The only thing they would have a problem with would be if I got my hands, neck, or face inked (no plans on that WHATSOEVER, although I have a full back piece and chest w 3/4 sleeve). At a very young age, when most kids wanted to be an astronaut or fireman, my brother and I said "we want to be rock stars!" As long as we promised to learn our instruments, they obliged. Now it's how I make my living and take care of my family :)

I hear ya. I already had long hair when my wife and I met. People asked me if I was going to cut it for the wedding, I said no (and I didn't. Wifey likes my hair this way). Funny thing was my side of the wedding party had longer hair than my wife's side.
