No pic on the left?

I just recently became a supporting member. I'm curious why I never saw my avatar & username in the box on the left side? Some that I see there seem to stay for days... I know the one that was there at the time stayed at least another 2 days, then it went to someone called "Philthy" for a few days...
It did take me a while to get a picture that would load in there, did I miss the window of opportunity?
I'm just curious, don't bother putting it in there now.
