NOEL REDDING RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!

While I have huge respect for Billy Cox and Noel Redding, I like Reddings playing more. Maybe it's because I tend to listen to the Experience more than the Band of Gypsy's but, to me, Noel complements Jimi's playing better. Billy Cox definitely had more solid grooves than Noel but Hendrix was all about stream-of-consciousness playing and I feel that Noel was better suited to back that up. I do feel that the real hidden talent in the Experience was Mitch Mitchell. Just listen to "Catfish Blues" on the BBC album.

Mitch Mitchell is def someone who is underrated. I alwasy loved his playing and thought he was one of the top drummers of all time. Its too bad that 1. when he was in Jack Bruce & Friends they never got recorded (it also said that in a book abotu Hendrix , the band took place when the Band of Gypsys was going on) and 2. He never really played or recorded that much after Hendrix died. Im surprised no big acts tried to hire him on later?...

de la mocha, why do you say you stand corrected? There's no reason people getting all huffy should change your opinion of the man's playing. Basically, you said he's good and some guy said he's bad. That's not a correction.

You are right!

de la moch,

Listen to your heart first and hold on tight.
This thread was Noel Redding Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For someone to come on with the big comparisons is better suited for the "Noel Redding or Billy Cox?" thread.

Personally I like Noel's playing. Probably for the same reasons some folks didn't. A converted guitar player with good use of the pick. I think of "Wait Until Tomorrow". For his acid jam sensibility on "Third Stone....." or his manic walking on "If 6 were 9".

I learned alot from Noel and Billy, and Jamerson and Lafaro and everyone else who spoke to me.

If I didn't follow my own heart; only listened to what others said, I wouldn't be the complete (ok, almost complete) player I am. Oh by the way......Noel Redding Rules!
