Noise Pedal

Hi, I know this is not a effect but was not to sure to where to post.

I am looking to get some sort of noise pedal (Boss NS-2).

I get a bit of hiss from my bass to amp (and studio monitors).

Is the Boss NS-2 worth getting? I am on a tight budget and need something I can take around with me.

Does it happen with different cables? Do you have an active bass? A passive jazz bass? I agree with trying to solve the problem first. Noise gates are typically used at the end of pedal chains to quiet noisy pedal circuits. The Mooer is probably good in that capacity with its size, but if you don't have a lot of pedals and are getting the noise going straight from bass to amp, the Mooer or Boss or whatever may not be a great fix.

That said, if you are just looking for one thing to take around and staying on a budget, you might also consider a Zoom MS-60b. It has a decent noise gate model (ZNR) plus some handy EQs, and you'd have lots of other effects to mess with if you were ever inclined.

I used to get hiss and buzz from my chain, but isolated power supply (i went with voodoo) solved that.
Consider an isolated power supply before noise gates. Noise gates are treating the symptom, not the cause.

Hi my bass is active, It's just had a service and new parts / pick up, but still slight hiss, really bugging me but the guy as the shop said that is the best it will get. The bass is 35 years old. I don't have it connected to any pedals at the mo as i'm waiting to see what noise pedal is best so I can make my pedalboard (never had one).
