Noise when using pickup blend?

Might seem like a noobish question, but since my other basses have noise canceling pickups, I think my ignorance is forgivable. :) Whenever i pan the pickup blend knob to the bridge or neck pickup there's a buzzing noise. Is it a bad ground or is that the nature of single coil pickups? This is my third bass, so I do not have much experience with different electronic setups. I'll upload a video to show what I mean.

It's in the nature of single coil pickups. You can try to reduce the noise, but there are varying opinions on the effectiveness of numerous approaches to the problem. If you keep the pickups blended evenly, the problem will likely be at its minimum. Many players keep the pan centred and change the tone by plucking over the pickup they want to emphasize.
