Noisy Polytone Mini-Brute

Bassists: Sometimes (but not always) my wonderful little Polytone mini-brute amp buzzes. I brought it into a shop, where the tech plugged it in and there was no noise. He said that it was the dimmer switches in my house or the club.

Usually the buzz is not too bad--can only be heard if the room is very quiet. But in the club I played in last night it was pretty noticeable (causing the club owner to start whining).

Is it the amp, or is it the room? Either way, is there some something I can buy to help?

I've had a Polytone Mini-Brute for many years and have used it on dozens of gigs, plus its my main practice amp. Its had some noise a few times during practice sessions, but this was resolved by just moving the power switch to a different position (its 3-way with off in the center).

I've never had any issues with it buzzing at a gig, but I always plug it into a good quality EMI/RFI-cancelling surge-protector / power strip.
