I'm a little surprised at the lack of upgraded (VM, CV) Squier P Basses that stick to the traditional format of one P pickup, four strings, and frets. The basic Affinity P Bass fits this profile, but when you start to get into the VMs and others, you get a lot of P/J pickup configurations, five-stringers, fretless and 50s styles. Compared to what Squier offers on the J Bass side of things, their P line seems lopsided right now. Back to basics, dudes.

for what I have seen around, in my experience, I have seen the complete opposite!

I was in the hunt for a PJ some time ago, and the only squires I would find with that config were the affinity series.. never the CV or VM!

I am in Brazil though.. so the selection I find here is, most of the times, very out of date.

Now the current Affinitys are P/J. They get good reviews overall and i've played some nice Affinitys but the only one of the new crop I've played had the sharpest fret ends I've ever encountered on an electric instrument. Granted it was only one example.
