I own many instruments. One of my children is quite musical so I’ve had many people give me old guitars and keyboards over the years. However I only really play bass and cajon.

I also want to say how awesome This thread and TB is in general. The fact that I can come on here and converse with all these amazing musicians is just fantastic.

Piano. Been playing since I was 10... got a solid classical foundation, then took some college piano classes and had private lessons with various teachers off and on through adulthood (though more off than on lately). Still have that same baby grand!

Then a few years ago I picked up a '59 Hammond C3 with a Leslie at a pawn shop across town for a decent deal... I'd never call myself an organist, but it's been an awesome adventure.

Been taking guitar lessons for three-plus years now, too. Love my MIM Strat!

Guitar, mandolin, ukulele, tiple, drums, percussion. But I'm not great on any of them.
In my current band I trade off between bass (electric upright) and guitar, but I'd prefer to just play bass.

I have a Tele and a Strat, but don't consider myself proficient at guitar - I just plink around on them. I do collect and restore vintage Tama drums and have a couple of really nice mid-80s Superstar kits in storage (because I live in a small house). One is a pretty big kit - something that would make Billy Cobham proud!

I played every brass instrument with proficiency in HS, but trumpet was my main/first instrument. Still have 4 of em play for fun from time to time.
I play a little drums - Set or snare.
Dabble on keys, and know some chords on guitar (Peavey Raptor from back in the day). Nothing impressive.
I OWN a harmonica set but haven't really touched em since I got em.

I've been playing a Korg Monologue for a bit, which I bought to play as a synth bass instead of buying a pedal for such purpose. It's been very fun to play.

I also own an old Hohner accordion, which my grandfather passed on to my dad and then to me. With me, it's three generations that have not learned to play that instrument. I had a son recently, so maybe I'll give up as well and pass it on to him.

I love musical instruments and will try to get a decent sound out of anything I come across. I’ve got some synths and lots of guitars, and a drumset and a bunch of percussion, and playing them passably is a thing I do.

I drew the line, however, at an electric oud that showed up in my FB feed looking so incredibly cool. I asked myself the two Big Questions:

1) can I play the Beatles on this?

and

2) does anyone—even people who love me—want to hear me trying to play the Beatles on this?

So, alas, I do not play the oud. But sometimes I play the fool.

Bought an acoustic guitar last year, figured I'd try to work up a solo act. Haven't played it in a while because I actually got busy playing bass last year so guitar was on the backburner.
Just got a mandolin. it's harder then I thought though I have a few chords down.

I play keys, trumpet and guitar also. I don’t really play drums but I have some GGD and Slate drum software that I use.

Trumpet was actually my first instrument. Started when I was 9. Got my first bass at 13, a acoustic guitar not long after. I can’t remember when I got my first keyboard but the first couple I had were more so toys. Like inexpensive Casio ones from Walmart/Kmart kind of stuff. I got my first decent keyboard when I was in my 20s. It was a Korg x50.

Have a Bach and Yamaha trumpets. A Yamaha mx49 keyboard which is sorta of a cheaper version of the motif. It uses the same sound engine of the more expensive motifs but trimmed down for example less effects. But it’s also way less expensive because it’s a basically completely made out of plastic. So it’s probably not as durable as a real Yamaha motif but I actually like how lightweight it is and I actually prefer the synth action keys because I’m not really a “pianist.” I occasional use piano sounds but even when I do I’ll usually have them layered with something else like a pad for example. I mostly use keys to add additional instrumentation to my bands songs and for creating basically like backing tracks for me to jam along to with bass at home.

I had a couple cheap guitars in my teens an acoustic and one of those cheap electrics that had an amp and speaker built into the guitar lol. First decent guitar I got was an esp Stephan carpenter signature baritone. Currently GASing for a white fender player series tele with a maple board. I don’t really gig on guitar so I use an ampless setup basically combining my bass pedalboard with a tech 21 sans amp gt2. The gt2 is an analog pedal that simulates fender, Marshall, and Mesa amps. Actually sounds pretty good for something so inexpensive. Way better than the line 6 pods and stuff I used to have.

here are a few example of stuff I’ve done. This is a recent jam I recorded in my home studio. Was trying to come up with an intro track for a solo project. Have added bass to it since but haven’t posted that version online because I plan on retracting a lot of it. But you can really hear what the Get good drums and the Yamaha mx49 sound like raw here because this is basically with no additional plugins. All I really did was tweak some levels and pan some tracks differently
I rarely ever bring a keyboard to a gig because I’m typically busy playing bass but I do play keys in the studio to add additional layering. Here’s an example of me adding strings and piano to one of my bands songs.
