Damn. The guys over at the Luthier's Corner taught me wrong. This technique looks much easier than meticulously gluing the fretboard back on with bicycle inner tubes.

"This was from an estate. I know very little about it. There is a small hole in the bottom that looks like it had a metal piece in it previously. Look at photos as they are part of the description. There is also a small hole the previous owner put in it for some reason as shown.
Selling as is as shown , priced accordingly as I know very little about it , screws and neck will need attention/ fix, not sure why they are like that"
Fix the crack. Pretty easy. Holes where straps attach can be plugged with dowels and hardware will pretty much hide them. Hole in the back can be filled and be made barely noticeable. BTW, what could the hole in the back possibly be for?
So Anyway, have you checked the price of wood glue lately?

It's a long shot and I'm not on any drugs, but do you think he might have been experimenting with a new placement for his bottom peg? I dunno. I'll say this. The guy has certainly presented us with an interesting conundrum this weekend.
