Nordstrand Big J-Blade Pickups

Which wind do you guys think I should get for my fretless Hamer 2Tek CruiseBass? I originally was thinking of going with the “Clean & Clear” and pairing them with a Villex PRTB I have in my drawer, but now I am leaning towards the “Warm & Woolies”, after Carey and Stew said they sound more like Jaco pups. I don’t think the PRTB will be needed with the W&W set...thoughts?

I'm waiting for a fretless and I chose warm and wooly.

Any more opinions on these J-blades? I’m looking for something different in my Carvin jazz 5 and these are an interesting option. I currently have the stock pickups in it, j99a I think. I’m looking for more output in passive and perhaps something less bright sounding. I don’t want a pickup that is too scooped and slap oriented (DiMarzio ultra).

I tried the W&W, and they were too dark for me (but I like some Geddy-like clank); they are up for sale with a small discount on Reverb as I only used them for an hour. I tried the C&C and really liked them, but opted to keep my Delano big-pole split-coil humbuckers for their more aggressive coloration and somewhat quieter as well (though the Nords were not noisy for a pair of single coils); they are also up for sale on Reverb if anyone is interested. I really think I'm splitting hairs, though. 1st world problems!

OK now again frustrated by the string imbalance due to the flat Delanos, I put my C&C set back in. The C&C have great clarity but I'm thinking they could be a little sterile for my tastes due to the rail design; time will tell. Considering their '70s wind NJ4, but wondering what radius they offer would be best: the standard 14" or 7.25". My Geddy Lee is supposedly 9.5" but I don't know if it's a compound radius ie only 9.5" at the neck. Does anyone know? I should try to measure it.

Geddy Lee Jazz is 9.5, at least for the MiM one.

I don't know about the Geddy neck radius exactly, but the Nordy Jazz Blades fixed my string-balance OCD on my Geddy quite nicely.

Oh yeah, I was happy with the string-string balance with the blades. I'm just finding the tone almost too clean, which I didn't think was possible. It's so uber-clean it makes them seem very aggressive, which I partially like but am also wanting a bit more warmth (by that I don't necessarily mean dark, but rather a softer attack and more harmonically complex perhaps). The "warm & wooly" were too dark for sure.
