Not happy with some details of TB software

Overall the vbulletin replacement works out great. Too bad VB decided that suicide by stupid changes is the way to go forward.

However, I am really annoyed about a couple items:

1) email on message notifications doesn't have the message? Really? That's really bad for my trading.

2) the editor does not do copy and paste correctly in all cases on X11 based platforms. That is fine and I don't want them to do anything about it. However, if they would just allow us to use a plain textbox (as an option) everything would be fine. A plain textbox where the browser sorted out all this platform stuff should always be something that is in easy reach of a switch. Or in other words: if they want to mess with it and force people to use their hacked up stuff they need to get it right. If not there should be an option to fall back to the browser's plain textbox.

3) the different control elements are placed too randomly and too hard to see inside posts. edit, reply, quote, all obscure and with low contrast. The worst thing is that the post date is very hard to see.

4) I turned off adblock for this domain but there are some annoying (scammy) ads that have no relevance to bass or music for that matte.

Thanks for your consideration. As I said, the basics are all there.

Hi Thanks for the great feedback! Here are some responses:

1) we are working on this. we're in the process of hiring a plugin developer to make this a user-selectable preference to receive full post text in notification emails.

2) There's a setting in your prefs, to disable the rich text editor. Does this help? :

3) Thanks for your opinion - I can't do much to help, but maybe the "dark" style would add some contrast for you?

4) We do sell some ads in-house, but our remnant inventory is filled with Adsense. We're always working hard to get more bass/music related ads on TalkBass. :)

Not using the rich editor still has this software overwrite the browser text box, breaking platform selection paste in the process. Sure it's simpler but they still hack it up, not knowing what they are doing and POOF.

I don't understand why anybody would ever not want messae text in the message notifications. Are you sure t is worth the time making that an option?
