Not One Of The Typical Rosewood Vs. Maple Thread

Hello Everyone! just wanted to know what you guys enjoy playing more rosewood or maple fingerboards? im not asking what sounds better or what feels better...cause i know its really personal preference so i wanna know what you guys play more and enjoy?maple or rosewood...thanks!

I prefer rosewood over maple, but my favs are either Pau Ferro (Morado) or Wenge. My least favorite boards are maple and ebony. For some reason, I've never taken a liking to maple boards. There's a certain "clackiness" to the upper mids that I don't care for, but it's hard to say if it's actually the maple or the finish that gives it this quality. I find ebony to be a bit too bright in the very top end for my likes, especially when I play with a pick.

Between the two, rosewood with caveats. If there's a matching headstock, I prefer rosewood, but I do like the look of a finished maple board on a maple neck. I had a couple basses (most notably a Tobias Renegade) where the (unfinished?) maple got really dirty, and I didn't like that look at all.

But I like the looks of almost all boards, depending on how it matches the rest of the bass of course.
