Well, I suppose this isn't typical as you're not asking for comparisons in tone.

To answer the question - er, I'm stuck. I have basses with maple and rosewood (and ebony) fingerboards, and I enjoy playing all of them. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

  5. Graphite for sound, maple for feel. Aesthetically it varies by the bass' body color.

I don't have a bass with a maple board, but I have a Strat with a maple board, playwise it doesn't matter to me. I prefer rosewood, or even better yet ebony, for the looks of it, it doesn't get as dirty as a worn maple neck. I know, that many like the worn look of a maple board, I don't.

    Graphite? As a fingerboard material?

I prefer the look of rosewood.

  15. Well I guess it isn't really a fingerboard per se, but graphite necks without wood fingerboards are my preference. The surface is still graphite.

  16. Rosewood

I have both but prefer maple.

  19. Rosewood fan here. Of the basses I own only two are maple and one is ebony.

edit: forgot to mention the Modulus Q5, that's phenolic or some such?

I have ebony, rosewood and maple and prefer a fretboard....they all sound/feel different and all sound/feel good. I like having different choices but have no preference.
