Hey I used to be active on these forums a few years ago when I was really getting into playing and exploring bass. Found this place to be a great resource , I found bass central through here (i lived in orlando at the time) and reviews etc which led me to all my current gear.
Anyways I couldn't remember my old account or email it was on so I made new.
I'm really excited to get back to it. I was learning jazz and studying with a pro bassist before life kicked me in the ass and took a few loved ones, had to pick up and move out of town etc. I'm sure anyone who's lived in this world can relate in some way.
but the key in life it to not give up, to 'get back on the horse'! So here I am.
I am extremely extremely fortunate to have found an amazing teacher. Keith Jones recently just moved to south florida from LA (santana, jean-luc ponty and more and more) and I just had first lesson with him. Super excited because he;s not only an amazing bassist with a storied resume, but he;s from Jamaica and knows and plays with all the legends that founded the great genre of Reggae. So exciting for me because Reggae is my genre, but I also want to keep going deep into jazz and he seems to be the perfect coach to tie all that together.
Working on just simple left hand dexterity exercises he gave me as well as reviewing all my triads and notes on the fret board. I was told that next time we have a lesson I have to know where everything is.
Trying to get rid of all these bad habits that have crept in is a challenge! but back at it.
Glad to be back here too, looking forward to reading and posting. Learned a lot here in the past.
