Not sure what to make of this statement.

People are just weird about gear. One of the worst BLs I ever worked with thought I had cheap, no-namo gear because he used to work at Guitar Center and nothing they sold there had a RevSound label on it. He sniped at it the first time I brought it to a gig and I just rolled my eyes and said, "it's hand-built and it sounds great. Sorry it doesn't say Ampeg on it."

You just can't help some people.

I'd mess with him and say:

So, you think this bass is expensive? I'm sorry for that
