My point is i can actually remember when i could count the the number of Female Led metal bands on one hand....are tastes evolving?

When did this happen? have i been asleep for the last 20 years?

Some of the best performances I've seen live were all female. One notable show was at the Palace on Vine in Hollyweird. It was L7. Those chicks have got balls big enough to come in a dump truck.
Hole was actually a pretty great act at one time, but I can't recall if the whole Hole were female. :woot:


edit/add:

The Nymphs were/are a great show too, but their only female had enough balls for all of them.

additional add:

Lemmy described the gals from Girlschool just like they were dudes. Apparently they were female doppelgangers of Motorhead.

Nice list. Holy Moses released their most popular album in the late 80s and broke up for a while. They probably benefited from this new interest. Tura Satana was a band by Trairie B., and became My Ruin. I also recommend Benedictum, and Kobra and the Lotus.

Women have definitely reinvigorated Heavy Metal. There's some incredible talent out there. I think the potential was there in the 80s, but it was tough for them to be taken seriously. If you look at the movies, there are more women as action heroes, too.

I actually played a few shows with Tairrie in the early 90's when the band was called Manhole...she always put a good show!

and point in your post was kind of my point.....even when there were metal bands fronted by women or bands that were comprised of all female members they were never taken seriously...and treated as a novelty act...or as a way to get people to come to their shows to see the scantily clad female singer....

seems to be much more prevalent and accepted in Europe than the U.S.A. i'm noticing....

Cool. I saw Manhole once, which I thought was her best band. It could have been the beer, but that was an intense performance.
