If Darth Vader had a bass, this would be it!
Where's the black coated strings? Elixers or something. DR Black Beauties....
Like the marital reference. What monster class-A amp will this be played through?
WOW! This post really caught my eye. Nice Ric and the mods are right up my alley. I did the same thing with my 2021 Autumnglow, adding a white pearloid pickguard from Pickguardian. Swapping in a Nordenbacker fixed the hum and lite low-end and the tone is still organic and natural. This is my first Ric, and after 43 years on bass, having owned a Pedulla, I currently I have 3 Fender Jazzs and two Spector Euros, and this bass is my favorite. I didn't expect my reaction. It was humbling at first, but now I get it. My 6 bass collection is all about tonal variation combining Active, Passive, Neck-through and Bolt-on. Enjoy the pics!
Cool looking Ric.Been meaning to do this to my 4003s for a while. Black Pickguardian pickguard, Nordenbocker neck pickup swap, and black truss rod cover on temporary loan from my case queen '73.
I even found little exact-sized, button head machine screws to replace those gawdawful-sharp-as-hell bridge pickup height adjustment Phillips head screws. Found 'em just beaming out brightly in my bin of spare fasteners. This really wouldn't add much $ to come from the factory this way.
Anyway, not exactly "none more black" but it's just the way I like it. If Nordstrand made a little chrome surround for the Nordenbocker, I'd buy it.
The pickup is excellent btw. It really does play much more nicely with stock bridge pickup. And if by "nice" you want a pickup combination that allows you to crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women… yep this is the combo.

That is the best looking Ric I've seen in my life. You have a kick-&$$ rig.
I got to give you props…
But my gawd… If it could have an ebony fretboard, I would buy that model instantly!
If it had an ebony neck, and it was mine… I would never look at another bass. It would be iconic for looks alone…This idea has not stopped itching at my brain. I would love to know what it might cost to put an ebony board on this (possibly with shark fin inlays).
Abhor. That's a $2 word right there.I really abhor the idea of a bass as a weapon.
