Totally idiotic thread. So many cellar-dwellers who are "better" than Pete Wentz (and I'm no Fallout Boy fan), yet somehow, he's the one touring and recording. If Justin Meldal-Johnsen wanted to say he was "better" than Pete, that's one thing. But I could never imagine him making such a statement. Real pros have too much class to even get into this bull#@$. Because there are so many aspects of being a professional that have nothing to do with complexity of bassline, and more with work ethic, ability to deliver the goods consistently, etc.
Leave it to some bitter GAS-obssesed players who are big men on a forum to put actual professionals down.
And yes, I know you are supposed to be able to express your opinions here. This is mine.

As far as I know of these specific bassists, I'd say you're better than Mike Kroger (Nickelback), Tyson Ritter (All-American Rejects), and Josh Paul (Daughtry). Keep in mind I haven't heard EVERY SINGLE SONG by these people, but from what I've seen, you're better.

Yeah I don't know about Tyson Ritter, did you ever try to learn the intro to "Move Along"? I was teaching it to a student, and it's pretty tough. Really smooth picking on those line, and very synchopated.
