Notating ringing, unison pedal notes

How can I make it clear, in pure standard notation (i.e., no tabs at all) that the part is to be played as below instead, with the ringing and at times unison pedal notes in G?

Normally the unison is shown as two parts, so a single note head with an upward and downward stem.

But what happens when the unison notes are not played simultaneously, but alternate between an open G and a 5th-fret G as above? And how to show that the Gs after non-unison notes are ringing open Gs, not non-ringing 5th-fret Gs?

Yep, @SteveCS got it right: two separate parts, one with the ringing open G and the other with the eighth notes.

As promised. This is from the prelude to Bach Cello Suite #1 in G. In bar 35 the A alternate between stopped and open string. Some players let the notes ring as 1/8ths with no muting...

Just write ‘let it ring’ underneath. You see that in guitar parts often. You can do as Steve CS said and write it in two parts but that sometimes makes it look too complicated for what it is. Especially in your example.

Another way is to write the string number above it in a circle. For example (1) above the note when you want it on the G string, and (2) when you want that note on the D string.
