Hi, my friends call me Squarebear. Glad to be here. I've checked-out a few things on talkbass the past month or so and I've been pretty impressed with some of the knowledge you folks have. And, that's why I'm here... to learn what I can.
I've been out of the actual music side of things since 1974, except for a couple years at a recording engineering studio/school mid '80s. I am waiting for my Luna short-scale acoustic bass and Spark amp to arrive. I already have new strings, strap and cords and a looper pedal. Been investigating sound-hole and mic pups... can't wait to get started.

First things first, where are the notes on the neck of your bass. Hint, take the first five frets first, know where all the notes are located. Then G scale starting at the 4th string 3rd fret. Then C scale starting at the 3rd string 3rd fret. Move up the neck using the 4th and 3rd strings for the rest of the scale roots. The A scale at the 5th fret. Keep going.
