Now I remember why Nordstrand is king..

This seems like an appropriate place to add my gushing about my first set of Big Singles and a BigMan. Blown away I am. Awesome pickups. Could not be happier and have named the bass after the bridge pickup.

I've been thinking about making a similar BigBoy bass that has a pair of regular J pickups under a MM cover along with a pair of jazz bars - almost exactly like this one except that it would have regular J size coils under the hood.

I have an old beat up ibernez thats over 10 years old...nordstrand dual blades was recomended to me by a guy here on talkbass...I also replaced the pre with agular obp-3 ...truth be told now my old lady is turning heads left right and center...totally blew away basses in the thousands region like 2-3 thousands...the only thing they have on me right now is looks...but in terms of tone they are no where near nordy + obp-3 .... I enjoy telling them its my old lady blazing up the place....thanks nordstrand...all the way from trinidad and tobago :D

Thanks for the compliment.

BUT, this is utter nonsense. And, Larry deserves zero credit for anything I've done or been taught.

I purchased one set of pickups from Larry at his shop in Oceanside. I was at his shop for maybe 10 minutes for a very quick tour. I was modifying and rebuilding an old Aria bass in my spare time while I worked for Steve Azola. I have never been friends with Larry. We did not "hang out". As a matter of fact, I eventually replaced the pickups I got from him with a set of DiMarzio Model J's which I liked WAY more. The set I got from him was too clean and clinical with no mids. Not my taste at all.

I won't lie, something about those offset pole pieces makes me nervous, curious, and aroused all at once. A SUB with a big man and a parts P with one o theirs are in my future.
Also carey being available on a forum and posting at length? Yeah that's the kind of stuff you dont see everyday.
