When I went on Talkbass for the first time in a long time, I realized that since I was on last time, I sold four basses, Lakland Long Scale HB, Gretsch Semi Hollow, Gibson Double Cut and a Yamaha 535, leaving only P and P/Js. The G&L LB-100 is a true P type with a wide neck and one double cut alnico. The Fender Tony Franklin is more a fretless with a tone that really works for me. The Yamaha 434 is mostly my workhorse. All have flats. I prefer the simplicity of the controls, and the wonderful deep rich tone. Where I to keep just one, it would be the LB-100. Just an awesome bass, both in the studio and on stage. My early obsession with hollow bodies went away with feedback issued playing live. The wonderful hollow body sound is not worth a stage catastrophe. I liked the Gibson, but was uncomfortable playing standing up on stage due to head drop. I am very satisfied with the three I sill own and play with consistency.
