I'm not playing it right now but I've been listening to a '59 Wynton Kelly album originally on Riverside called Kelly Blue on CD. It is seriously great. It's got Paul Chambers on bass and Jimmy Cobb on drums. It is so good that I don't know what to say about it other than these guys sound funkier playing straight walking 4/4 jazz than anything on the Erykah Badu CD, Mama's Gun, that I just picked up and I the Badu album is a good, funky collection of songs!
Any of you guys that want to get into acoustic jazz this CD or any Miles Davis recording with this rhythm section (Kelly/ Chambers/Cobb) is a great, great place to start.

it's been a hell of a winter this year :(

I know what you mean. I heard about Brecker last night and... man. knew he was ill but the news still took me off guard. brought up so many memories of hearing him play in different bands... the man will be missed.

to swing as far from the news as possible, I'm listening to an mp3 that someone just sent me:

"Crazy Bitch" by Buck Cherry

I'm still gauging my reaction to this... the news and the song.
