Started playing bass in the 80's as a teen. Took about a 20 year break from playing live for other career. Just getting back into playing this past year, and starting to play with some others locals for fun. Thought I should start piecing me together a new pedalboard from scratch. Here are my first two. Keeley Bassist. Love the simple set up and transparency. Still figuring out the source audio - but woah!! love the filter sounds on this.

Here's a tip:
Don't cheap out on the power source and the cables. You will buy them twice if you do.
I got a cheap PSU first, then ran into problems and upgraded it to a mediocre one, but that was driven by a wall wart. Having such a tiny cable running to my board plus having a bulky wall wart instead of a normal mains plug caused problems when playing out so I took the plunge and bought a Cioks that fixed all problems. Knowing what I do now, I'd have bought a Cioks from the start.
Same goes for cables. Getting fat ones with big, high quality plugs was what I did first. Then I learned that you can have 5 pedals on your board instead of 4 if you use cables with more flexibility and smaller plugs.

Great choices of pedals. There's a lot of discussion here about compressor into envelope filter vs envelope filter into compressor. Some like comp first because it evens out your playing and makes a more consistent 'quack'. Some like filter first because it gives you more dynamic range for the quack which is then tamed by the comp. Try it both ways and let us know what works for you!

I was playing with this last night. In the past I have always gone compressor first - but thought I would mix it up a bit. It is hard to get past what you have in your head is the best (personal bias) - but I will keep experimenting and try to be objective.
