Did anyone else here get one of these things? It's a real hoot. The thing's much heftier than I was expecting (pick in the pic for scale), but then I guess it's not much bigger than a volume or expression pedal. Anyway, it's pretty fun! A bit impractical, especially for a bass player, but I like it.
I don't currently have any way to record, so I can't provide any samples, but it really does sound great in terms of DSP quality. For those that haven't seen the hype videos, it does pitch bends up and down, depending on which way you rock the arm, and the depth can be adjusted from a quarter semitone all the way to a full octave in either direction. Bending too far down doesn't sound great on the lower notes on a bass, but playing up high is pretty nice. Combined with some chorus and spring reverb, it's really helping me fulfill my fantasy of becoming some sort of Peter Hook/Dick Dale combo
If all it did was pitch bend, I think it would really be a waste of both $ and pedal board space. It can act as an expression pedal though, so that's a plus to give it some extra uses (though I haven't tried it yet). I've gotten some nice ambient sounds by putting it in the post-reverb loop of an Oceans 12. Long, detuned reverb tails are always fun. There are probably other creative uses for the thing that can justify keeping it. And hopefully I can continue to justify it-- it's got my name stamped on the bottom as a pre-order perk, so I'm not sure how easy it would be to sell it if I get bored with it!
