Much Wow. So Flex. I spent half an hour trying to figure it out and then got out the manual and spent another half an hour. So far very very impressed, but I haven't quite figured out yet how to get all the controls interacting to get the sounds I want, but it seems very promising. Has a feature I've always wanted - the ability for the envelope to control not the phase modulation amount (static), but instead, for it to modify the LFO speed control. Makes it much less repetitive, more unpredictable, more speech-like.

Will take much learning to conquer, though, I expect.

So of course the first thing I had to do was set this up in parallel with my Pigtronix EP-1 and let them both weird out with warbly envelope-controlled goodness. Gotta dig my MuTron BiPhase out too hehe.

Nah, I have an EHX POG for that, it does really, really well too. Great tracking even polyphonically.

Here's a quick sample - touchy and glitchy still, but promising - first with panning off, then with autopan on - I need to lower the max envelope speed to get rid of those frequency modulation type effeects... anyway, funwow for now

Found the internal trimpot and turned max envelope speed down all the way this is what I get - closer and closer still. May have to turn it back up a tweak.

One more tweak. I'd normally run with the phase intensity lower, have it cranked to make it more obvious while tweaking the envelope parms.

I do wish it had a more traditional control layout for the phaser section, but it's not too bad once you get the hang of it. Definitely capable of making everything from subtle musical sounds to spaceship battles around Uranus! hehe

Sure. Though I'd have to check how well it preserves the low end. It certainly can be used with bass, I've done it, but whether the results are to your taste or not, I can make no promises.

If you get around to checking let me know, because I’m choosing between the pigtronix and this one. The pigtronix seems “rare” these days so I don’t wanna miss out if that’s the one to choose

It does have a blend knob, which I normally want in the middle to get the proper phasing effect anyway, but would allow tweaking to let more low end through if that's an issue.

I see the Pigtronix EP-2 used on ebay and reverb quite often, I just picked up a new one because I broke one. I like both it and the Horizont, but for different purposes - the EP-2 is more of an "every day, easy to find the sweet spots for a subtle effect", while the Horizont is more for ambient / experimental / extreme stuff - "Waging the Wars of Weirdness", as I like to put it. I do happen to have an extra EP-2 now that I might be willing to part with at cost...

ahhhh haha I see, yeah I thought they were going to be similar in their application, I’ll be picking the ep-2. How much would you want to sell it for?
