Hey guys. A quick update. Hamish is willing to do a limited TB run of the ten speed dual fifth gear we discussed earlier. Base on comments here I'm assuming 10 should be a great start.

Once you components arrive and I test it (gott b some perks right?). I'll put up a link for the preorder

Ps. I do not get paid, receive discounts or any other considerations. Hamish is a friend, just spreading the love.

So a litte update. I have two of these pedals. An old single knob - currently at the end of my chain, and a v2.

I use the V2 first in my chain right before my octave. It's a boost and slight OD for me. But I was thinking of ways I could control peaks when I use my filter (fwonkbeta, I really love this thing a lot) without having to get a compressor. I don't like compressors that much at the end of my chain. If I am going to use one, it is usually at the beginning, but I don't even do that much.

Anyway, I have started messing with using the V1 as an always on compressor. I keep the knob turned all the way down. Even with this I notice that it adds some volume and a little hair. It focuses the signal a little and does some slight coloring to the tone. So while it is not a transparent option, it is still serving the purpose of keeping my effects from peaking my signal and also adds some definition to my sound.

Just a little experiment, but I like this. Not sure if anyone else runs one like this, but I am curious what the V1 does to the tone with the knob at zero, it appears to add a db or 2 and a little hair in the high mids, but that's all I can discern so far.

Feel free to share if you run one like this too.

More time in the studio with it so I can hear details :

V2 is the way to go. Much more control of the tone. A passive bass going in won't drive the pedal unless you boost the gain, so you can get pretty transparent. I max the volume, Heat at zero and then dial in a little bit of gain and subtract the same amount from the volume. That gives me an always on setup and now my pedals are uniform volume when on and slapping won't peak out.

With an active bass the pedal gets overdriven more. I think there is a limiter of some sort in this pedal. Regardless I can not achieve a super hi fi clean tone with a Stingray, but the change in tone is definitely cool and not bad at all. It basically tightens up the bottom end of the Ray and focuses it more. I think a little hair on it actually works rather well and controls it more. Personal preference, but I can use this tone just fine, but with the V1 it was too squished and didn't work for me.

V2 it is. V1 moves back to my original spot as a boost and the V2 is my new end of chain always on, fake compressor/tube saturator.
