I got this '77 Musicmaster in June thru the TB classifieds. There were some cracks in the finish, but its a lightweight bass and the price was right. This is the previous owner's photo.
Some would say keep it as is, but I already got three black basses and dont really want another. Since I love the way my fiesta red Mustang looks against a black shirt, I went for the same with this bass.
Then I got an aged white pickguard
Here it is next to my Mustang. The colors are off, but similar, and I like it so good enough.
Next was some sheilding and some soldering of new electronics. The pick-up is a DiMarzio BC-2.
I played it for about an hour and messed with the pick-up height. The set-up is good, and the electronics have no issues. This bass weighs less than 7 lbs. and plays great, has a nice growl too. I'm really proud of how the re-finish turned out. I love tinkering with basses almost as much as I like playing them.
