Double Bass NS Design CR4M D String Buzz

Hi I just changed the strings on my CR4M to the standard D'Adarrio Contemporary Flats and since I've changed them the bass has developed a nasty buzz on the D string.

It happens wherever I'm playing on the D string and whether its plugged in or not, I've checked that the string is seated ok at the bridge and the nut and they both seem fine. Tuning the string up to an E doesnt seem to stop it either

The bass was playing fine before I changed the strings but now its horrible. It looks like they were full length DB strings on it before.

Anyone any ideas? my guess is that its a dud string

One thing you could try: Strike the string quite hard in a well-lit room. Look closely as it vibrates; it should vibrate evenly down its entire length. If there's a spot where the vibration pattern seems to constrict and not vibrate as widely, that can indicate an internal fault in the string.
