Not exactly sure that this shouldn’t be posted in one/all of the NSD mega threads, but I’ll let the Moderators decide what’s best.
Here’s a DIY for those using a Tornado crutch/cane tip on a NSD endpin (or any other brand of sticky tip on their endpin).
Solution is ~$12 at Home Depot. I used the original JB Weld because it has the highest shear strength. JB Weld coupled with a 2” (I.D.) black PVC pipe end cap, a saw/sandpaper and the original bottom piece that came with the NSD endpin, and we have this...
The new “cup” fits the 2” O.D. Tornado tip and these tips pretty much stay put when playing.
Hope it helps!
John
FWIW, I thought about screws/bolts or a center pin nail that the tip would rest on (and not slide), but went with the JB Weld instead. If it doesn’t stay put, I’ll likely counter sink a bolt from the bottom and thread it into the PVC, then re JB Weld everything to have a mechanical bond in addition to the JB Weld. For now it works great and hasn’t broken with ~60 day of regular in/out mishandling the bass into the stand.
