NSD??

Hi,

New shoulder day?

The day I've been looking forward yet dreading a bit is here. I'm going in for right shoulder labrum surgery. It may turn into NBD pretty soon since I'll be on a sling for 6 weeks and an Ubass will fit perfectly! Glad it is my picking hand.

Peace!

Good luck. I am waiting on surgery for both shoulders later this year.

When I saw "NSD" I thought "New String Day". :p

I pray both of you have successful surgeries and quick recoveries. I hope you're gigging again soon. Take care.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I had my labrum repaired on my right shoulder about five years ago. Fortunately, it never interfered with my playing--I went to rehearsal the week after the procedure, just slipped my arm out of the sling and played. Good thing it was my picking hand and not my fretting hand. I was scared to death that the surgeon would F something up and I'd wake up without being able to move my fingers, or something, but the surgery went fine. Recovery and rehab was a real pain in the, uh, shoulder. Sleeping sitting up is a major drag. Five years on and I'd say my shoulder is definitely pain free for virtually all activities of daily living. I can even swim. That said, I still do not have the same range of motion I did before the surgery and still get twinges. I spend a lot of time exercising my shoulders with weights and a rowing machine, which has helped a lot.

good luck!
