You have? Were you in the Navy? Do tell. I love ships - a marvel of engineering.
I wasnt, but probably should have been, as I also love ships. The USS Silversides is docked at Muskegon, Mi, which is on Lake Michigan. Its a museum ship that you can go on. Stayed the night on it one time when I was in the boy scouts and have visited it from time to time ever since.
Every year they fire up the motors, a very cool sight to see, I would have to think its one of the last ones that runs.
It's worth a Google search anyway if you are interested.
Also, if you like subs, check out the U-505 at the museum of science and industry in Chicago. Its a German U boat that was captured by allied forces. A remarkable story and a remarkable ship to visit as it is all out of the water inside a building, so you can see the whole thing.
Also worth a search.
