Nut slots spaced equally edge to edge?

Just need to know the norm for best playability.

Anything special for a compound radius?
5 string by the way.
17mm spacing
Radius at nut -a little more than 14
Try to achieve zero fret or decending heights?

Zero fret, definitely. Too high and it will be hard to play. Just don't get it too low or it will buzz.
