NYE gig, injured finger

Strained my RH middle finger bowling four weeks ago. Punk-a$$ phalange still hasn't healed. My DIP joint all swole and won't bend right. I can play okay, I guess, but definitely hurts to dig in, especially to play the B. Gonna tape it up good and see if I can't hit that stride between drunk enough not to feel it and not drunk enough to embarrass the band.

Any of you basstards ever had to tape a joint to get up and pluck? How'd it go?
It's a band-aid. Time is the real solution and sometimes medical assistance is needed.

Dude. You'll be fine. A couple years ago, I was having a cookout on a Friday night off (rarely get those) with friends and family. I fired up my brand new weber grill to get it ready. The gas line had a small leak, which ignited, burned up, and turned my propane tank into a flame thrower. It got my right arm from elbow down and the right side of my face. I was flown by chopper to Washington Hospital Center in DC and put in the burn unit where they scrubbed my 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my arm and treated my face. I got out the next evening after they scrubbed me again and showed me how to take care of my burns. Ordered me to stay home for 4 weeks from work and gigs. I played a gig that night with my arm wrapped up and fingers individually wrapped. Suck it up, buttercup.

So far so good. Got through sound check without any pain. Little finger sleeve is working great.
